Who doesn’t love seeing their hometown represented in a music video? Philip Anderson of Bluelight and Anderson Philms shot, directed and edited this new music video for “Sip Slow,” the new single off HR3’s upcoming EP (also co-produced by Anderson). The video features Jul Big Green, and includes footage of Akron businesses BLU Jazz+, Square Records, The Matinee, Annabell’s Bar & Lounge and Mr. Zubs, plus shots of the University of Akron and downtown.
HR3 is Holbrook Riles III: drummer, educator and beat maker from Mansfield, Ohio. Riles studied Music Performance at the University of Akron for five years and now lives in Akron six months out of the year, where he teaches drums and plays with the local groups Bluelight, Operations, and the Michael Vincent Quintet. The other half of the year, he plays drums in a six-piece Dixieland band on the American Queen Steamboat.
The HR3 record was created in part by sampling songs from the Bluelight record and turning them into new compositions. The single “Sip Slow” is a collaboration between HR3 and Bluelight.
