What do you wish was more on Akronites’ radar?

I think the Akronites are doing a pretty bang up job so far. I usually find friendly faces everywhere I go and people are always excited to tell me about new spots I haven’t checked out yet. I think that’s something unique to Akron natives. Lemme just say, the Orangeman at Artisan Coffee is SO GOOD and everyone in Akron needs to try it.

What is your favorite local cultural asset?

I love all the variety of things to do in Akron! Lock 3 is riddled with fun, there are a bunch of museums and parks, great food, and friendly people.

When did you fall for Akron?

In 2015 when I visited the city for the possibility of coming to college here.

Where in Akron do you like to escape?

I really like walking around the Gorge and spending time by the water, or even just driving around town listening to music. Akron feels like home to me since coming to school here and I love that I feel so comfortable anywhere I go.

Why should everyone try your favorite local restaurant?

SWENSONS! I mean come on, it’s seriously the best place on earth. It’s affordable, delicious, and the best part is you can mix milkshake flavors! I highly recommend orange and root beer.

How do you hope Akron will be different in five years?

I just hope that in the next five years, the people that come to Akron find friends, a home and a place to fall in love with just like I did. Also, I lowkey would like to see less litter within the city, but hey, catch me outside with a garbage bag picking up some trash and then we’ll talk.

Luigi’s for sure. It’s an Italian restaurant that’s been around since the 40s and is just amazing in general.

What is your favorite local cultural asset?

My favorite local cultural asset is the Akron Art Museum. There are a ton of great pieces and they’re always unveiling more!

When did you fall for Akron?

I guess the day I was born. I’ve always loved Akron but I don’t think there was ever a defining “aha” moment for me.

Where in Akron do you like to escape?

F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm. I love nature photography, so it fits that I’d go to the nature realm often. Aside from that, it’s overall a beautiful park and you can spend a whole day just walking through it.

Why should everyone try your favorite local restaurant?

D’Agnese’s at White Pond is just sooooo good all around.

How do you hope Akron will be different in five years?

In all honesty I just hope they fix the roads. For real though, I think that Akron is going to pick back up and be great. LeBron is still actively promoting Akron, and I know the city just got a TIGER grant for renovations, so that’s cool!
