The Devil Strip is made up of a team of dedicated Akronites who love living and working here. Our staff includes:

Chris Horne (Publisher)

Chris (he/him) is native of Macon, Georgia, publisher of The Devil Strip, husband to Dr. Heather Braun, and co-creator of 9-year-old Maddy. He was a 2019 John S. Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University and a 2018 National Arts Strategies Creative Community Fellow. He’s an alumnus of The 11th Hour, The (Macon) Telegraph, 13WMAZ, WEWS-TV, Applebee’s, Play It Again Sports, Terminix, Saturn Drive Baptist Church and Waffle House. He loves what he does and needs no other hobbies but has a faint memory of a time when he read and wrote for pleasure.

Rosalie Murphy (Editor-in-Chief)

Rosie (she/her) is The Devil Strip’s editor-in-chief, leading the magazine’s reporting and journalism training efforts. She is a graduate of University of Southern California and started her newspaper career at The Desert Sun in Palm Springs, Calif., where she covered housing and development issues. On weekends, you’ll find her on a hike, in a dance class, or working on the Lost rewatch podcast she co-hosts.

Floco Torres (Community Outreach Director)

Floco (he/him) is The Devil Strip’s Community Outreach Director, as well as a Recording Artist & Producer. He is activity driven and design focused. Most of his careers & passions have come from a simple curiosity and following a thread. He wants to encourage as many people as possible to get outside, find a thread & follow it. You never know where you’ll end up.

Jessica Goldbourn (Director of Membership)

Jessica (she/her) is a community advocate, oenophile, and lover of art. An art history graduate of Kent State University, she discovered her love of art and culture early watching PBS on Saturday mornings.  WSET certified means she’s a real fancy wine drinker, who knows her stuff and loves to share her quest for the best value wine available. Meetings for philanthropic causes give her good opportunity to eat, drink, and be merry. You can follow her food and wine escapades on Instagram @jessicagoldbourn.

H.L. Comeriato (Public Health Reporter)

H.L. Comeriato (they/them) is The Devil Strip’s public health reporter. They earned their B.A. from the University of Akron Williams Honors College in 2017, and are joining The Devil Strip team as a Report for America corps member. Above all else, they believe in the power of community, collective joy, and a good old-fashioned pizza party.

Noor Hindi (Equity & Inclusion Reporter)

Noor (she/her) is The Devil Strip’s equity & inclusion reporter. She earned her MFA in poetry through the NEOMFA program, and has been working at The Devil Strip since the beginning. She loves poetry and cats and really, really wants to ride the Goodyear Blimp.

Abbey Marshall (Economic Development Reporter)

Abbey Marshall (she/her) is The Devil Strip’s economic development reporter. She graduated from the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University in 2020 and is joining The Devil Strip team via Report for America. She likes manatees, musical theater and consistently battling her sourdough starter to bend to her will.

Chris Harvey (Art Director)

Akron native Chris Harvey (he/him) is a visual artist and the Art Director at The Devil Strip. He served six years in the Ohio Army National Guard. After military service, Chris attended Cuyahoga Community College for Graphic Design. He enjoys hiking and biking and making art.

Derek Kreider (Distribution Manager)

Derek (he/him) is The Devil Strip’s Distribution Manager. Derek is also a freelance writer and (when the bars are open) can occasionally be spotted playing in bands with his friends. He believes in doing the best he can, always asking questions, and never stopping learning.

Sonia Potter (Digital Manager)

Sonia (she/her) is a recent graduate of The University of Akron, where she earned her B.A. in English and creative writing. When she’s not updating TDS’s social media accounts or crafting the newsletter, you can find her reading for pleasure, tending to her herbs, trying to get her cats accustomed to harnesses, and cooking like a madwoman.

Anna Adelman (Client Solutions Manager)

Anna (she/her) grew up in Akron and is a U of A graduate with a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies focusing on Theatre, Film & Child Development, and marketing. She attended improv classes at Chicago’s Second City, where she learned she’s more comfortable writing comedy than performing. She enjoys developing workplace sit-coms and wants to be a screenwriter when she grows up. She cut her teeth at The National Inventors Hall of Fame (Inventure Place), where she promoted Camp Invention/STEM programs. She’s married to Rachel, has 2 cats, an awesome Mom, and a dad whom she misses. She’s an Aquarius.
