In 2019, join The Devil Strip in making the first New Years Resolution you’ll ever keep (if you’re anything like us, anyway). It’s an easy one: Have fun. In Akron.

Meet LIFT Akron.

LIFT stands for Local Investment, Local Fun, Local Transformation. That’s what The Devil Strip aspires to do every day, and we want you to join us.

LIFT is a to-do list for the year, with a simple challenge every month. In January, get outside. (Yes, in January!). In February, help someone in need. In March, we’re asking our community to eat at a local restaurant and try a cuisine they’ve never had. And in June, we’ll kayak the Cuyahoga River with Burning River Adventures and help with their annual river clean-up.

Every month, The Devil Strip organize an event that gives you the opportunity to LIFT Akron with our community. We’ve scheduled a hike at the Cuyahoga Valley National Park for Jan. 12 and a volunteer day with the Akron Snow Angels for Feb. 9

If you commit online to LIFTing Akron, we’ll send you updates as we finalize the remainder of the year’s events.

If you can’t make it, no worries — complete the task on your own, with family and friends or solo, and check it off. Document your activity on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook using #LIFTAkron2019 so we can keep track of who’s participating.

And at the end of 2019, everyone who completes the LIFT List will get a free ticket to a New Year’s Eve party, where we’ll celebrate Akron and the people and places that make it great.

In each issue of The Devil Strip’s magazine this year, you’ll find deeply reported stories about these issues, plus tips for making these one-time outings into actionable habits.

Ready to join us? Visit TheDevilStrip.com/LIFT to learn more about each month. Print out the LIFT to-do list, which is at left, and hang it on your fridge or bulletin board. Check off tasks as you complete them.

Once more: Details at TheDevilStrip.com/LIFT. Commit here.

It’s going to be a great year. The more, the merrier — because the more of us work together, the greater impact we can have.
