by Libby Kurfis, Akron Pizza Task Force

This month the Akron Pizza Task Force visited Courthouse Pizzeria in Medina. Nobody in the Task Force had ever been to Courthouse Pizzeria before, but we were pleasantly surprised.

We agreed that the staff was nice and there was not a long wait time for the pizza. (Keep in mind that the wait time will vary depending on what time of day you go.) The Task Force’s favorite part about Courthouse Pizzeria is that you are able to watch them throw the pizza dough.

Courthouse Pizzeria offers a variety of food, including salad, breadsticks, wings, subs and dessert. They also offer a pizza kit so that you can make your own pizza at home. This is a great idea for a night in with your family.

Pizza Breakdown

Crust: Courthouse Pizzeria offers a thinner-crust pizza. We were very satisfied with the lightness of the crust because we were not overwhelmed with its taste. This crust made me prefer thin-crusted pizza.

Sauce: We tried the traditional sauce and agreed that although there was not a ton of sauce, it was still the perfect amount. Courthouse Pizza offers a variety of sauces including BBQ, buffalo, garlic-infused olive oil, pesto, and traditional.

Toppings: There were a variety of toppings on the menu at Courthouse Pizzeria. We both agreed that the toppings were very tasty, and they put on a generous amount. I put mushrooms and chicken on my pizza and APTF member Laura Brink had onions and olives. Courthouse Pizzeria offers standard toppings, but they also have some unique ones such as meatballs.

The Final Slice

Cheese Pull: The cheese at Courthouse Pizzeria was delicious and the pizza had the proper amount. The cheese pull on my pizza was better than Laura’s.

$$$: The price at Courthouse Pizzeria is on the more expensive side. A New York slice is $5, a 14-inch pizza is $14, and an 18-inch is $18. I got the New York slice for $5. I think $5 for a slice is pretty reasonable. The larger pizzas are on the pricier side.

Atmosphere: The atmosphere was calm with a rustic feel. They offer dine-in and carry-out. I enjoyed the dine-in experience, but there is not a ton of seating available. This is something to keep in mind if you plan on eating there with a large group of people. I enjoyed being able to watch my pizza get made. I also liked watching the pizza dough get thrown.

Pizza: The Pizza Task Force agreed that we would go back to Courthouse Pizzeria again. It is great for both family and friends. I would recommend going in the afternoon when it is less busy. Next time I go, I would like to try their subs and another New York slice with different toppings.

Rating: Out of 10 slices, the Akron Pizza Task Force rates this pizzeria an 8.
