The Akron Pizza Task Force visits Altieri’s

by Alexis Cunningham, Akron Pizza Task Force

The Akron Pizza Task Force visited Altieri’s Pizza over last week, and it exceeded our expectations. Compared to the other pizza places we’ve reviewed over the last few months, the overall experience and flavor that Altieri’s offered was definitely unique.

This particular review was a bit different as Altieri’s is carryout only. We each visited individually and came together to discuss our key takeaways.

Inside, you can see staff preparing the pizza. We we each took advantage of the offer of a  complimentary piece of pizza upon our arrival, and experienced good customer service. There was little to no wait as the pizza was done as soon as we walked in for pick up.

Between the atmosphere, the pizza samples and the carry-out only feature, this was one of our most dynamic pizza joint experiences.

Keep Your Hands Off My Pizza

Crust: Altieri’s offers traditional, thin, wheat, wheat thin, and a “NoCrust Pizza” crust. We were all satisfied with the traditional crust on their pizza.

Sauce: We each tried the traditional sauce and agreed that the amount of sauce on each slice was generous and of good quality and taste.

Toppings: The toppings on Altieri’s pizza were quite tasty with definitely more flavor and freshness than you would expect from a typical pizza chain. Of all the other places we’ve reviewed, they rank high when it comes to toppings.

Leftovers: The reheat-ability of this pizza is really good, earning high ratings from everyone in the pizza task force. For my personal experience, the pizza was so good that my own family members swiped the leftovers before I had the chance to test the reheat-ability! But take it from them: “It was really good pizza!”

The Final Slice

Cheese Pull: The cheese pulls we experienced were nothing to brag about, but the overall flavor of the cheese and pizza is enough to let it slide.

$$: Altieri’s was quite affordable, with a small cheese pizza starting at $6.50 and a large cheese pizza starting at $14.25. I tried a 12-inch pizza with pepperoni, bacon, and spinach, which came to a total of $15.68.

Atmosphere: Altieri’s is carry-out only. It operates out of a small storefront with a comfy atmosphere. There is a waiting bench for anyone who has to wait on an order and an enticing pizza menu that takes up an entire wall, filled with specialty pizzas, a plethora of side dishes, and desserts.

Pizza: A little off the beaten path in Stow, Altieri’s is worth the drive. In fact, I think I’ll head back this weekend to try some of the other things on the menu and hopefully score another free slice. Maybe this time I’ll be able to keep everyone’s hands off my pizza!

Rating: Out of 10 slices, the Akron Pizza Task Force rates this pizza joint 9 slices.
