Today, we are turning the tables, literally… Paul is letting me have the column! I am kicking this off by telling a bit more about myself and reviewing one of my favorite record shops: Time Traveler Record.
Time Traveler Records sells records (duh…), Laserdiscs, DVSs, VCRs, 8-tracks, and more! In case you don’t know what a laser disc is, it is pretty much a large-looking DVD with a hole in the middle, about the size of an Oreo cookie. It shows movies or TV shows. An 8-track is pretty much an early example of a cassette tape.
The owner, Scott Shepard, says he opened the store in 1980 because of the wonderful music of the era, like disco, funk, pop, rock, country, soul and more. At first, it was just records, 8-tracks and cassettes. But, in ‘87, he began to sell DVDs, CDs, VCRs, and Laserdiscs. He also gets all of his stuff by ordering them online and having people donate them — or selling some of his!
And now, a bit about myself! I am 11 years old. I love baking, record collecting, and going around Akron with my brother, Paul, to show kids that Akron is a fun city with lots of things to do!
