Song Premiere: G.S. Schray, ‘Gabriel at the Prewindow’

by Floco Torres

One of Akron’s most talented and mysterious musicians, G.S. Schray, is back. He’s getting ready for his new album, First Appearance, which is set to release on January 25th via London based label Last Resort.

Today we premiere the opening track, “Gabriel at the Prewindow.”

This instrumental soundscape features a haunting grand piano throughout that paints a scene of a lonely Steinway Model D being played in a long corridor. There’s a sense of renewal here. No melody or effect rushes through its purpose.

G.S. Schray handles every instrument played on this track, from acoustic bass, trumpet, clarinet and vocal synths that sound as if they recite different passages on each listen. Put this one on repeat, close your eyes and let your mind wander.

G.S. Schray’s new album First Appearance will be available on January 25th via Last Resort. This album is the follow up to 2017’s Gabriel.
