Don Quijote

The premiere of “Don Quijote,” a new bilingual adaptation of Cervantes’ enduring fable of the man of La Mancha, based on a version by Argentine playwright Patricia Suarez, which continues through Mon., May 21. Idiot Parade Chapbook Release Party

Akron Soul Train fellow (and former TDS contributor) Gabe Gott releases his second poetry collection, “Idiot Parade.” Many of the poems were written during Gabe’s March 2018 fellowship and are a mix of blackout poetry and traditional free verse poetry. It contains both deeply personal and politically charged poems from which he’ll read a few selected works, followed by Kent-based garage rock band, DD MOTO. For details, visit

Full Circle Storytelling, Vol. 3

Fans of The Moth will recognize the set-up as folks get their five minutes of fame on the stage at Jilly’s, telling stories off a prompt that turns strangers into good company as you cycle through the hilarious, the heartbreaking and the cringeworthy. This monthly series is produced by Wandering Aesthetics with a local celebrity emceeing in the very best venue for it: Jilly’s. The prompt this month is My Favorite Mistake. Coup De Grace with Baccano & Dirtkid

This Akron indie psych-rock trio with a strong jam influence blends catchy vocals, strong songwriting and the occasional shredding guitar freak-out. They welcome Columbus’s Dirtkid and Toledo’s Baccano to the Blimp City for a show at the venerable Highland Square live music venue, Annabell’s.  “Walk In Light” was engineered and mastered by Nathan Doutt, co-owner of Central 8 Studios.
