The legendary music of The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis came to EJ Thomas Hall at The University of Akronon Thursday, September 28

Heralded by The Daily Telegraph as “the finest big band in the world today,”  the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (JLCO) is comprised of 15 of jazz music’s leading soloists under the leadership of Marsalis. The repertoire draws from original compositions by Marsalis, Ted Nash and other members of the orchestra, as well as the masterworks of Ellington, Mingus, Coltrane and other great jazz composers.

The concert launches a year-long celebration of the 40th anniversary of The University of Akron’s Jazz Studies Program and celebrates the 15th anniversary of UA’s Bittle Jazz Artist-in-Residence Series. Also part of Tuesday Musical’s FUZE series, the concert was made possible by Frances Yates Bittle, with support from UA’s Kulas Concert Series.
