Every Wednesday for the next few weeks, The Homeless Charity, a non-profit charity organization in Akron will be having a panhandling course. Individuals who are out of home or out of work can go and get certified. The classes will be led by Ryan Scanlon, a ‘panhandling master’ from 12-1 pm at The Homeless Charity building at 15 Broad St.
All are welcome to learn about panhandling, but everyone is encouraged to leave their judgement at the door. Topics such as the legality of panhandling, how to overcome guilt or shame, the best locations for panhandling and what people should wear if they’re panhandling will be discussed.
These courses are free to join and no requirements are necessary or expected, but if you would like to tip leader Ryan Scanlon you may do so. This course could be one of the most interesting courses you take all year and if you’re homeless it could be the most important.
