U Akron ‘Million Student March’ on Nov. 12 focuses on loan debt, campus minimum wage

On Thursday, November 12 the Akron Ohio Student Association will host a “Million Student March” at the University of Akron, beginning at 10 am in front of the James A. Rhodes Arena at 373 Carroll St, Akron, OH 44325.

The march, which is part of a national effort occurring on many university campuses, will demand tuition free higher education, a cancellation of all student loan debt, and a guaranteed $15/hour minimum wage for all campus employees.

A press release for the local march cites an attempted fee hike for upper division classes and the steep climb for in-state tuition over the last 15 years. Organizers will also host a rally at 11 am in the Coleman Commons circle directly in the middle of the UA campus.

For more information about the national day of action, please visit studentmarch.org or contact OSA member Kelsey Watson at akronosa@gmail.com.
