Pro Baseball and Pro-style Selfies: ‘Akronites Unite’ Friday night at Canal Park
This Friday, June 17 at Canal Park, show off your Akron-ness and watch some baseball. Professional photojournalist Shane Wynn and The Devil Strip will be there to get your photos, many of which will be featured in our July issue. Shane’s bringing her pro-gear and mad skills to set up the shots, but you’ll be the one in charge. In this age of long-armed self-portraits and selfie sticks, we’re going with a different approach, letting you pose and snap your photograph.
Then… you get to enjoy a game at Akron’s beautiful downtown ballpark on the perfect night for people who love this weird and wonderful city. That’s because Friday night is the RubberDucks’ Akronites Unite Night, featuring an homage to all things Akron. All-American Soap Box Derby, Akron Marathon, History of Akron & Summit County, and Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) will have tables set up, and the players will be wearing “Ak-Run” jerseys featuring black and white photographs of the city and the ever recognizable blue line, which will be available for auction. There will also be contests throughout the game featuring facts and landmarks pertaining to our city.
So come on out and support local sports, show off your face for reasons of pure vanity and win some contests with all your brilliant knowledge of Akron trivia. The game starts at 7:05. Purchase tickets here.
