New World Performance Laboratory will perform the “Devil’s Milk Trilogy” this week in repertory at the Balch Street Theatre in Akron. The trilogy consists of three stand-alone plays about Akron and its relation to the rubber industry. Audience members can see any of the three parts or see all three (in any order), that when put together, “create an epic chronicle of Akron and rubber from 1900-1936,” says James Slowiak, director. The three parts of the trilogy can be viewed throughout the week or all in one day on Repertory Sunday.

Each part of the trilogy is to be performed twice this week, once each leading up to Repertory Sunday, then each will be performed again, in order, on Sunday. Part 1 of the trilogy, “Death of a Man,” will be performed May 25 at 8 pm. Part 2, “Goosetown,” will be performed on May 26 at 8 pm. Part 3, “Industrial Valley,” will be performed on May 27 at 8 pm. Repertory Week concludes with Repertory Sunday on May 28; “Death of a Man” will be performed at 1 pm, “Goosetown” will be performed at 3:30 pm, and “Industrial Valley” will be performed at 7:30 pm. During the five-hour break between “Goosetown” and “Industrial Valley” on Sunday, you can explore the West Hill neighborhood, downtown Akron, or Highland Square, or stay at Balch Street for live music and food catered by Miss Julie’s Kitchen.

Each play costs $15 for general admission and $10 for students, or you can save money by buying a Repertory Pass ($30 for general admission, $20 for students) that allows you to see each part of the trilogy once during Repertory Week. Tickets can be purchased online at devilsmilkrep.bpt.me and by phone at 330-867-3299. All performances will be at the Balch Street Theatre, 220 South Balch Street, Akron, Ohio, 44302.
